The CIVR inspects wines received and official supporting documents, which may rectify any material errors and refuses samples which do not respect the clauses of the present regulations. Attention is placed on the correct use of appellations of origin or geographical origin and on the batch numbers of packaged wines. Labelling of products in EU Member States should comply with EU regulation and for third countries, comply with regulations in force in the country of packaging. It then undertakes distribution of samples on the basis of characteristics appearing on declarations for which provision is made under the terms of registration or, as required, observed characteristics.
The organiser stores samples in a secure location and in line with temperatures and atmosphere which guarantee proper storage.
